Credentials
I am the owner of a small business in Chapel Hill, North Carolina called Integral Counseling Services, PLLC. My interests include energy medicine, somatic psychology, spirituality (heavily influenced by metaphysics) and psychotherapy, play therapy, family therapy and healing rituals. My approach addresses the mind, body and spirit and I have a broad base of practitioners of many disciplines that I refer to in meeting the varying needs of my clients (children, adults, couples and families). I bring all of myself to meet the whole person of each of my clients. I see each person and family as a culture unto themselves and endeavor to understand that culture before introducing the idea of change. I listen deeply to the needs of my clients using a unique blend of my skills to help make the changes they desire for their health and well-being.
Prior to getting my Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology I, studied Breathwork and Reiki seeing clients and serving as an adjunct to their psychotherapeutic work. I began to see lots of clients with histories of abuse, so I decided to get a degree in the counseling field to meet the complex needs of people with trauma histories. My career took me from a Rape Crisis Center to an agency serving young children and their caregivers, to a Pastoral Counseling center. Throughout, I maintained a private practice, which I expanded when I left my last agency job.
Throughout I studied with Cherokee elders to learn indigenous healing ceremonies and shamanic practices. They taught me that I am simply a vessel for spirit to pass through and that I must keep my vessel clean and well-tuned to be able to be a vehicle for Creator in doing the work of energy healing. Most recently I have added the study of Healing Touch as I find people need help changing the narratives of their lives by changing first at an energetic level. I was a chef prior to all of this and know the importance of what we take into our bodies for sustenance on a nutritional, energetic, psychological and physical level. When working with another’s energy field. The energy from my heart to their energy field is spirit food to be ingested and digested with the aid of unconditional love and our human birthright to heal. I hold a deep love for humanity and for the great mystery from which all life comes.
I also hold shamanic healing circles and other healing ceremonies as taught to me by the Elders I had the good fortune to study with. This work has been instrumental in developing my intuitive nature and working with the unseen forces in the spirit world such as during soul retrieval ceremony. Some clients come for Ceremony, some for Counseling, some for Healing Touch and some will experience a range of the offerings. This is decided on a case by case basis according to the needs of the client using discernment to know when it is best to refer a client elsewhere or when the most ethical and effective strategy is integrative therapy. We make those determinations together. Psychotherapy sessions last 1 hour; whereas Healing touch sessions last from 60 minutes to 90 minutes (the first session being 2 hours with the intake).
